Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Merging, splitting, compressing, editing and converting PDFs run right in your browser and the files stay on your computer. Reading text from scans (OCR) downloads language data the first time, but processes the document on your device.
How large can the PDFs be?
Merging and compressing take PDFs up to 50 MB per file. The work happens on your device, so long documents may take a while on a slower phone.
How do I make a PDF from photos or scans?
JPG to PDF puts photos or scans into one PDF, with pages either in A4 or matching the image size. If you also need the text of the document, drop the scan into Image to text (OCR).
Does reading text from scans work in Czech?
Yes. Image to text (OCR) reads Czech including diacritics as well as English, from a photo, screenshot or scanned PDF. The language model (about 3 MB) downloads only the first time.
Are the tools free, do I need an account?
All of them are free, with no registration and no watermark. I do not collect e-mails, just open a tool and drop in a file.
